Emitii vs ClickUp: fewer settings, one space per project

How is Emitii different from ClickUp?

ClickUp is a highly configurable work platform with more than 15 views, chat, docs, whiteboards, time tracking, AI and over 1,000 integrations. Emitii is a simpler business workspace that gives each client or project a space with chat, a kanban Board, to-dos, docs, a schedule and a timesheet, with far fewer settings to configure.

Who should choose Emitii

  • Teams that find highly configurable tools slow to set up and maintain
  • Agencies that want chat, tasks, docs and hours per client in one space
  • Teams that prefer logging time after the fact with weekly approval
  • Small businesses that want an AI that acts inside each space, with approval

Who might be better served by ClickUp

  • Teams that need Gantt charts, dependencies, goals or sprints
  • Organisations that depend on many integrations, an API or webhooks
  • Teams that want a start and stop timer for time tracking
  • Companies that require SAML single sign-on

The core difference

ClickUp and Emitii both try to bring chat, tasks and documents into one place. The difference is how much they ask you to configure.

ClickUp offers a very wide feature set: more than 15 views including Gantt, mind maps and whiteboards, goals, sprints, dashboards, forms and a large integration list. Teams can shape it to almost any process, and that breadth takes setup and ongoing care.

Emitii is deliberately narrower. Each space is one client, project or team, with tabs you switch on: Board, Tasks, Schedule, Timesheet, Docs & Files, Posts and a Pulse chat. There are three space types (Client, Project and Internal) that pick sensible tabs, so there is little to set up.

Where ClickUp fits

ClickUp is stronger when you need depth and configurability.

  • Many views. List, Board, Gantt, Calendar, Table, Whiteboards and Mind Maps.
  • Planning tools. Goals, milestones, sprints and dashboards support larger programmes of work.
  • Time tracking with a timer. ClickUp has a built-in timer and timesheets.
  • Integrations and API. Over 1,000 integrations, plus an API and webhooks.
  • AI options. ClickUp Brain, AI agents and an AI notetaker.
  • SSO. ClickUp supports single sign-on, including SAML.

Where Emitii fits

Emitii suits teams that want the essentials connected without building a system.

  • Chat inside each project. Every space has its own Pulse chat with threads, mentions and pins, alongside direct and group messages. See team communication.
  • A board and to-dos that stay simple. The Board has priority, labels, checklists, a blocked flag and card limits per column, and Tasks holds repeating to-do lists.
  • Timesheets with approval. The Timesheet logs quarter-hour entries marked billable or non-billable, grouped by day or by work, with weekly approval and CSV export.
  • Board Rules. Automation rules run on card events, with a dry-run preview, run log and undo.
  • AI with approval. When AI is enabled, Emit and @emitii can act inside a space, and every write waits for your approval.
  • Guests by space. Clients join only the spaces you add them to, and see only the items you share.

Access

Emitii is invite-only, so teams start by requesting access.

Moving from ClickUp to Emitii

To move, create a space per active client or project, map your statuses to Board columns, and recreate open tasks as cards or to-dos. Upload documents you still need to Docs & Files. Before moving, list the ClickUp features your team uses every week. If Gantt, custom fields or specific integrations are on that list, ClickUp is probably the better home.

A quick way to decide

List the ClickUp features your team opened in the last month. If the list includes Gantt charts, goals, dashboards, whiteboards or a specific integration, ClickUp is earning its place. If the list is mostly tasks, a board, comments, a few docs and time entries, Emitii covers that with less to configure.

Onboarding is another signal. When new people struggle to find where things live because every team has set up its own structure, Emitii's fixed tabs per space make the answer the same everywhere: the Board, Tasks, Docs & Files, the Schedule and the chat are always in the same place.

Closing note

Choose ClickUp if you want maximum configurability, many views and a large integration list. Choose Emitii if you want a smaller, calmer workspace where each project's chat, tasks, docs, schedule and hours are ready from the start. Read about Emitii or try a live demo before you request access.
