Team chat that lives next to the work

How does team communication work in Emitii?

Emitii has direct messages and group DMs for person-to-person chat, and Pulse, a group chat inside every space for the people working on it. Both support threads, mentions, reactions, pins, reminders and file attachments.

Chat that knows which project it belongs to

In most companies, project talk happens in a chat tool while the project itself lives somewhere else. Emitii puts the group chat for each project inside its space, next to the board, files and schedule. That chat is called Pulse. Private and small-group conversations happen in Messages, which the left rail labels Chats.

Conversation types

  • Direct messages between two people.
  • Group DMs for a small set of people. Groups can be created, renamed, muted and left, and members can be added or removed.
  • Pulse is each space's group chat. It is always on and includes the space's members. In the Messages sidebar, space Pulses appear under "Channels".

Channels live in spaces. If a topic needs its own ongoing conversation, it usually deserves its own space.

Threads, mentions and reactions

  • Threads. Reply to any message or turn it into a thread. You can follow or unfollow a thread, see per-thread unread counts, and open a Threads list to catch up.
  • Mentions. Use @mentions to get someone's attention, or "Notify everyone" when the whole conversation needs to see it.
  • Reactions. Quick Thumbs up, Heart and Laugh, a full emoji picker and your frequently used emoji.

Message actions

Every message has a menu with the actions people actually use:

  • Edit and delete, with "Edited" and "This message was deleted" shown to others.
  • Copy text, copy link, or forward with a comment.
  • Pin a message so it shows in the Pinned messages panel.
  • Save for later, which puts it in the Later section on your Home page.
  • Remind me in 20 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours or tomorrow at 9:00 AM.
  • Mark unread, so you come back to it.

Attach files and images, and find them again in each conversation's Files tab. Links unfurl into previews. The composer supports bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, code blocks, links, quotes, bulleted lists and emoji.

Typing indicators, online presence and an unread divider show what is happening in real time. "Search messages" and "Search conversations" help you find an old discussion.

Where chat stops and other tools start

Chat is good for quick decisions, but not everything belongs in a stream:

  • Longer updates go in Posts, which have a title, a Markdown body and their own comments, so they do not scroll away.
  • Decisions about a specific card, to-do, event or doc go in the comments on that item, where the context stays attached.
  • Reference material goes in Docs & Files.

In a space's Pulse you can also mention @emitii to ask the space AI a question or have it take an action, with your approval. @emitii answers in a space's Pulse and comments, because it works with the space it is asked in. See the AI assistant page.

Keeping chat useful

A few habits keep a busy Pulse readable:

  • Reply in threads so side discussions do not bury the main conversation.
  • Pin decisions so people joining later can find them in the Pinned messages panel.
  • Use Remind me instead of leaving a message unread as a to-do, or turn it into a to-do in Tasks.
  • Move long updates to Posts, and link to them from Pulse.

Notifications

Messages reach people through the in-app bell, Web Push (including on iOS after "Add to Home Screen"), desktop banners and email summaries of what they missed. Each person picks a level (Everything, Involved or Just me), and can set quiet hours, pause everything or mute a conversation.

Voice and video calls, screen sharing and voice notes are coming soon.

Who uses it

Remote teams rely on Pulse and threads to keep work visible across time zones. Agencies use one Pulse per client space so account chat never mixes with another client. The team collaboration use case shows how chat, posts and comments fit together, and the guide on managing project communication covers habits that keep channels useful.
