Why chat is the wrong place for an announcement
A weekly status update, a new process, a client decision: these matter for weeks, but in a chat stream they are buried by lunchtime. Posts give each space a separate place for writing that people should be able to find again. The module's own description is "Announcements and longer team updates."
What a post contains
- A title, so the post can be found in a list.
- A Markdown body for proper structure: headings, lists, links and emphasis.
- @mentions to call out the people who need to act.
- Notify everyone when the whole space should see it.
- Pin to keep an important post at the top.
- Comments for questions and replies, attached to the post rather than scattered across chat.
The Posts list can be filtered, so a long-running space stays easy to read.
When to use Posts, Pulse or comments
Emitii has three places to write, and each has a job:
| Use | For | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Posts | Updates that should last and be found again | Weekly client status, new process, launch notes |
| Pulse | Quick back-and-forth in the space | "Is the draft ready?" |
| Comments | Discussion about one card, to-do, event or doc | Feedback on a specific design |
Pulse and direct messages are covered on the team communication page.
Where posts show up
- Space Dashboard. The Posts card shows recent posts to everyone who opens the space.
- Activity. The space feed can be filtered to Posts only.
- Home. Recent activity across your spaces includes new posts, and mentions have their own filter.
- Notifications. Mentions and Notify everyone reach people through the in-app bell, Web Push and email, according to each person's settings.
- Workspace search. The Ctrl+K or Cmd+K palette matches post titles.
Writing a good post
A useful post is easy to scan and easy to act on:
- Put the decision or news in the title, not "Update" or "FYI".
- Lead with what changed, then the detail.
- Mention only the people who need to act, and use Notify everyone sparingly so it keeps its weight.
- Link to the cards, docs or events involved, so readers can go straight to the work.
- Pin it if people will need it for the rest of the project, and unpin it when it stops being current.
Posts and the AI
Emit, the space AI, can list, create, update, delete and pin posts after you approve each change. A common use is asking it to draft the weekly update from what moved on the board, then editing before it goes out. You can also mention @emitii in a post's comments to ask a question about it. See the AI assistant page.
Posts and guests
Posts are internal until a member shares them. An agency can share a weekly client update as a post in the client's space with "Share with guests", and the client can reply in the comments. Shared posts show a Guest badge, and a space can also open all its posts to guests from its Guest access tab. See guest access.
Who uses it
Agencies post a weekly status for each client. Nonprofits share programme updates with field staff. Leadership teams use an Internal space for company-wide notices, with Notify everyone for the ones that matter. The guide on running weekly team meetings shows how a written update can replace part of a status meeting.
Posts are not Emitii announcements
Emitii also has an Announcements page, but that is product news from the Emitii team, such as new features or maintenance notices. Your own company's announcements belong in space Posts.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between Posts and Pulse?
- Pulse is the space group chat for quick conversation. Posts are titled, longer updates with their own comments that stay easy to find.
- Can I notify the whole space about a post?
- Yes. Use Notify everyone, or @mention specific people. They are notified according to their own notification settings.
- Can I pin a post?
- Yes. Pinned posts stay at the top of the space's Posts list.
- Can clients read and comment on posts?
- Yes, if they are guests in that space and the post is shared with guests. A space can also open every post to its guests in its Guest access tab.
- Is the Announcements page the same as Posts?
- No. Announcements are product news from the Emitii team. Your team's own announcements go in space Posts.
