Emitii vs Slack: chat plus the work it is about

What is the difference between Emitii and Slack?

Slack is a messaging platform with channels, huddles and a large app marketplace that connects to the tools where work is tracked. Emitii is a business workspace where each space holds its own chat next to the board, to-dos, docs, schedule and timesheet, so the conversation and the work sit in one place.

Who should choose Emitii

  • Teams whose conversations are mostly about specific clients or projects
  • Agencies that want chat, tasks, docs and time for each client in one space
  • Small teams that would rather use one workspace than connect several apps
  • Teams that want an AI to update the project itself, with approval before each change

Who might be better served by Slack

  • Companies that need audio and video huddles or screen sharing
  • Teams that rely on a large app marketplace and cross-tool automations
  • Organisations that share channels with partner companies
  • Businesses that require SAML single sign-on

The core difference

Slack starts from conversation. Channels, direct messages and huddles are the centre, and project tracking usually lives in other tools that Slack connects to through its app marketplace. Slack has added canvases for documents and lists for tracking work, but most teams still pair it with a separate project tool.

Emitii starts from the space. A space is one client, project or team, and it holds a group chat called Pulse alongside the Board and Tasks, Docs & Files, Schedule and Timesheet. The chat is always about something specific, and the card or document being discussed is one tab away.

Where Slack fits

Slack is strong when communication is the main job and your work already lives in other systems.

  • Huddles and clips. Slack offers audio and video huddles and recorded clips. Voice and video calls, screen sharing and voice notes are coming soon to Emitii.
  • External channels. Slack Connect lets separate companies share channels, which suits partner-heavy work.
  • Ecosystem. Slack lists over 2,600 apps, plus Workflow Builder for no-code automations across them.
  • Enterprise controls. Slack supports SAML-based single sign-on.

If your engineering tracker, CRM and drive are already settled and you need a fast, well-connected chat layer on top, Slack is the natural choice.

Where Emitii fits

Emitii suits teams that want fewer tools rather than better connections between many.

  • Chat inside the project. Each space has its own team communication in Pulse, with threads, mentions, pins and reactions. Direct and group messages cover everything else.
  • Work next to the talk. The Board sits in the same space as the chat, and its cards have assignees, due dates, priority, checklists and a blocked flag.
  • Time and schedule in the same place. The Schedule tab handles events and meeting rooms, and the Timesheet records billable and non-billable hours with weekly approval.
  • Clients as guests. Outside people can be added to specific spaces as guests, without seeing the rest of the workspace.
  • An AI that acts in context. When AI is switched on, Emit and @emitii can read a space and create cards, to-dos, events or docs there, asking for approval before every change.

Access

Emitii is invite-only, so teams start by requesting access.

Moving from Slack to Emitii

To move, create a space for each active client or project, invite the people and any guests, and start new conversations in each space's Pulse. Most teams keep their old Slack workspace readable for reference while current work moves across, and they recreate open tasks as cards or to-dos rather than copying old threads.

Can you use both?

Some teams run both: they keep Slack for company-wide or partner chat and put client and project work in Emitii spaces. If most of your conversation is about specific projects, one workspace is simpler.

A quick way to decide

Look at the last week of messages in your busiest channels. If most of them are about a specific client, project or deliverable, and people keep pasting links to cards and documents held elsewhere, a space-based workspace like Emitii removes that hop. If most of them are company-wide chatter, partner coordination or quick calls, Slack is doing its job well.

Also count the apps connected to your Slack workspace. If your process depends on several of them posting updates into channels, Slack's ecosystem is doing real work.

Closing note

Choose Slack if chat is the product you need and your other tools are staying. Choose Emitii if you want the chat, the tasks, the documents and the schedule for each project in one space. You can try a live demo or read what Emitii is before you request access.
