Personal notes inside your work tool

What are Notes in Emitii?

Notes in Emitii are personal notes that belong to you, not to a space. They have a rich editor with a slash menu for headings, lists, checklists, quotes, code and dividers, save automatically, and can be shared read-only with colleagues.

A private place to think

Not everything is ready for the team. Meeting scribbles, a draft plan, a list of things to raise with a client, a personal checklist for the week: these usually end up in a separate notes app, on paper, or in a message to yourself. Emitii keeps a personal notepad in the same workspace as your projects, so your own thinking sits one click from the work it is about.

Notes are yours. They are not attached to any space, and nobody else sees them unless you share one.

Writing a note

The editor is built for quick writing. Type a slash to open the menu and insert:

  • Headings
  • Bulleted and numbered lists
  • Checklists
  • Quotes
  • Code blocks
  • Dividers

Notes save automatically as you type, so there is no save button to forget. The notes page lists your notes on one side and the open note on the other, so moving between them is fast.

Sharing, read-only

When a note is worth showing, share it with colleagues. They find it under "Shared with you" and can read it, but they cannot edit it. This suits things like:

  • Meeting notes you took and want others to see.
  • A draft plan you want feedback on before it becomes a doc.
  • A reference list you keep up to date for others.

If a note needs several people editing it, move the content into a doc in the space's Docs & Files, where it can be edited, versioned and commented on.

Trash and restore

Deleting a note moves it to trash rather than removing it straight away, and you can restore it from there.

Notes versus docs versus tasks

Emitii has several places to write. Choosing the right one keeps things findable:

UseFor
NotesPrivate thinking, drafts, personal lists
Docs & FilesShared material that belongs to a client or project
PostsUpdates the whole space should read
TasksWork that someone needs to do, with an assignee and a due date

A checklist in a note is a personal reminder. Anything that needs an owner and a deadline belongs in Tasks, where it shows on Home and on the assignee's calendar.

Finding your notes again

Your notes are listed down one side of the notes page, with the open note beside them. Notes shared with you by colleagues sit in their own "Shared with you" section, apart from your own, so a shared meeting write-up never gets mixed into your private drafts. Because notes live in the same workspace as your spaces, you can jump from a note to the space it is about without switching apps or signing in anywhere else.

A simple routine

Many people use Notes in a daily loop: write the morning's priorities as a checklist, jot down points during calls, and at the end of the day move anything that needs an owner into Tasks or a card, and anything the team should read into Docs & Files or a Post.

Security

Notes are encrypted, like everything else in Emitii: chat messages, comments, docs and files. Each organisation's data is kept separate from every other organisation's.

Who uses it

Project managers keep a running list of points to raise at the next client call. Founders at small businesses draft ideas before sharing them with the team. Consultants take meeting notes during a workshop and share them read-only afterwards. Notes sit alongside the rest of a business workspace, so writing something down does not mean opening another app.
