Step by step
- Open the Emit tab. Open a space where AI is on and select Emit in the sidebar, under Work.
- Ask your question. Type in Message Emit, or pick a starter prompt such as What is blocked or overdue? or Catch me up on this space.
- Review the plan. For work with several steps, Emit shows a plan first. Choose Build it, or tell Emit what to change.
- Approve each change. When Emit wants to change something, choose Allow once, Allow for this chat, or No. Every delete asks separately.
- Answer its questions. If Emit needs a detail, such as which board or what to call something, pick one of the options it offers.
- Find generated files. When you ask for a report, spreadsheet or deck, open Docs & Files in the space to find the file Emit created.
Emit is the AI inside each space: open the Emit tab, or mention @emitii in that space's Pulse or comments. It reads and changes the space's work, with your approval. For the product view, see the AI assistant feature page.
What Emit can do in a space
Emit knows only the space you are in. Within it, it can:
- Board: read the board, create, update, move, assign, complete and delete cards, manage columns and checklists.
- Tasks: create lists and to-dos, update, complete and delete them.
- Schedule: list, create, update and delete events.
- Posts: list, create, update, delete and pin posts.
- Docs & Files: list, read, create and update docs, manage folders, rename, move and delete.
- Comments: read, add, edit and delete comments.
- Pulse and Activity: read chat history, activity and members.
- Trash: list and restore deleted items.
- Timesheet: log, edit and delete time, submit a week, and for space admins, approve or reject a week.
Answers stay grounded in that space's own work, and Emit keeps your conversation history. Your chats with Emit are private to you, and past chats are listed under Past chats.
Approvals and plans
Emit never changes anything silently. Each change pauses for your decision:
- Allow once approves this one change.
- Allow for this chat approves edits of that kind for the rest of the conversation.
- No stops it.
Deletes always need their own approval, even if you allowed edits for the chat. When a request needs several steps, such as "set up a launch board with three columns and six cards", Emit shows the plan first; choose Build it or say what to change.
@emitii in Pulse and comments
Type @emitii followed by your request in a space's Pulse, or in a comment on a card, to-do, event, doc or post. Emit replies in the same place. A bare @emitii with nothing after it is ignored. @emitii answers in spaces only, not in direct or group messages.
In comment threads, small safe edits may be applied without a prompt (up to five), while anything that deletes is handed to the Emit tab for approval. See Messages & Pulse for the chat itself.
Files Emit creates
Ask for a document and Emit saves it into the space's Docs & Files, not into the chat. It can create PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), PowerPoint (.pptx), CSV, Markdown and plain text files. Very long answers are also saved in full as a Markdown file in Docs & Files.
Instructions for a space
Space admins can open "How Emit works here" and write "Instructions for Emit in this space". For example: "Always put new work in the Triage column" or "Always use British spelling." Instructions apply to new messages from everyone in the space. Only space admins can change them.
Where Emit works
Emit works inside the space it is asked in, using that space's board, tasks, schedule, posts and docs.
How admins turn AI on
AI is off by default and switched on in layers:
- The Emitii team enables AI for your organisation.
- An admin opens Admin Console > AI Access and turns Emitii on for each space. Space admins can request it, and the request appears under "Needs your review" for an admin to turn on or deny.
- Admins can allow or block individual members.
Admin Console > AI Usage shows tokens, requests, cost, the monthly budget and what remains, broken down by surface, top users, top spaces and day. Customer data is not used to train models. More on access is in Admin & access.
Frequently asked questions
- Can Emitii's AI change things without asking?
- No. Emit asks for approval before every change, and every delete needs its own approval. Only small safe edits in comment threads, up to five, can be applied without a prompt.
- Does @emitii work in direct messages?
- No. @emitii works in a space's Pulse and in comments inside a space. It does not reply in direct or group messages.
- Is my data used to train the AI?
- No. Emitii's privacy policy states that customer data is not used for training.
